Today I’m bringing you something very exciting from a new publishing start up company called Serial Box. They write and create ebook series with a new episode being released every week. That’s right – every week you get a new episode of hot fresh fiction delivered straight to your phone.
Just like with TV their episodes are team written and take just about 40 minutes to read (or about an hour to listen to – they also release simultaneously in audio) so you can get your fix and keep on moving. They also make it incredibly it easy to toggle back and forth between audio and reading in their amazing app. You can be reading an episode, but then decide to listen to it instead, which is so easy with their app – the audio picks up exactly where you left off, so you can switch between the two really quickly.
This September they’re releasing a brand new serial called REMADE which is a mashup of Contemporary YA and Sci-Fi dystopia (something I’m really excited about!!) and is released on September 14th. Not only does it sound amazing, but it has the likes of Kiersten White author of And I Darken as one of it’s writers! Each of the 6 authors take it in turns to write a different episode each (there are 15 episodes all together) so every episode has its own individual voice and feel. I haven’t read anything by any of the participating authors, so I’m really excited to potentially discover new favourites and add to my forever growing tbr list (to-be-read list).
Every week I’ll be bringing you a mini review of the new episode of REMADE the day before its release, as well as a mini recap of last week’s episode so you don’t have to reread every episode (unless you want to of course!) I’ll be starting this on September 13th, continuing every Tuesday until the day before the season finale on December 20th. I really can’t wait to start this series because it’s such a unique and clever use of digital publishing. I for one am a huge physical book fan, but this is just too tempting not to love! It’s not trying to be a digital version of a book, and is bringing something new into the fictional world which I think is going to be a huge hit.
